Why it matters here
A working waterfront is hard on paint
Ballard sits on Salmon Bay and the Ship Canal, and the marine industry is part of daily life. That means two things for your car. Airborne salt drifts inland off the water and settles on horizontal panels, and the fishing terminal and boat yards along Shilshole and Leary throw off a fine grit that is more abrasive than ordinary road dust.
Then there are the gulls. Near the locks and the marina they are constant, and gull droppings are acidic enough to etch clear coat within days in warm weather. Most Ballard cars live on the street under trees rather than in a garage, so there is nothing between the paint and any of it.

Good to know before you book
Do you charge extra to come to Ballard?
No. Ballard is inside our standard zone and our shop is about ten minutes away in Wallingford. No travel fee. The price you see online is the price you pay.
Can you detail my car if I only have street parking?
Yes. Most of our Ballard work is curbside. We need roughly a car length of clearance on one side. Mention street parking in your booking notes and we plan for it.
Do I need to provide water or power?
No. Every rig carries its own water tank and generator. All you do is park the car and hand over the keys.
Bird droppings left marks on my paint. Can you fix that?
Often yes. Fresh droppings wash off. If they sat long enough to etch the clear coat, that needs machine polishing. Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly whether a wash, a polish, or full paint correction is the right call.
Can you work in my apartment garage?
Yes, as long as we can reach the stall and there is room to work around the vehicle. Low ceilings are usually fine. Check whether your building requires advance notice.
Do you detail boats at Shilshole?
